Translators

If you need a human translator to talk to or need to translate something from one language to another, there are a variety of services you can reach through the Internet. We list some of them here and also link you to some sites that have comprehensive lists of translators, translation services and translation software.

For tourists and those who want to translate a web page, the Translation Experts Ltd website and the AltaVista™ Translation with Systran® website listed below do an excellent job of translating words and phrases.

Free Online Software Translators

Google Directory - On-Line Translation Tools. Good list and links to major on-line translators most of which are free.

Mezzofanti Translations This site has put together on one page many of the online translation services that let you select a language pair, type in your word or phrase, and then click - Translate. This is the fastest way to find a good translation as you can work off of one page. Some of these services are also listed separately below.

The Translation Guide.com. A goof source of translation information including software product reviews.

Freetranslations.com This site is similar to SYSTRAN and does excellent online translations.

AltaVista™ Translation with SYSTRAN® This is one of two great free places (Translation Experts Ltd is the other) we have found on the web to go for a quick translation of a word or phrase into another language or to translate web pages. They cover bi-directional translation for six major languages (English, French, German, Italian, Portuguese and Spanish.) We have tried it on a few common phrases like "How are you?" and it translated them perfectly! You can also download their Systran Personal software product. Thank you AltaVista™ and SYSTRAN® for your kindness in providing a free translation service that really works well!

Translations.net They offer software and electronic translation products as well as a professional (human) translator service.

Translation Experts USA. This is one of two great free places (AltaVista™ is the other) we have found on the web to go for a quick translation of a word or phrase into another language or to translate web pages. We have tried the free online InterTran™ translator shown below on a few common phrases like "How are you?" and it translated them perfectly! They cover bi-directional translation for many major languages including the ones listed above for AltaVista™. They also offer a free download of their software product, the Word Translator™, on a trial basis. They also offer many other products and services. Dictionary.com. This is an excellent site for translators. Click here to go to their Translation page and select the letter of the language you are interested in translating. Most entries have an English-To-2nd Language source.

World Language Resources Corporation The world's largest selection of electronic and software translator products.

Human Translators

American Translators Association This is a mjaor language translator association in the United States. You can find a professional translator for almost any language using their site.

AT&T Language Line® Services Call AT&T Language Line® Services for over-the-phone interpretation in 140 languages, 24 hours a day, seven days a week. This page will give you instructions for reaching this service.

Aquarius Directory of Translators and Interpreters. This is by far the best place to come on the web to find a translator or interpreter. They have an excellent interface. However, you must register for free to use the service.

iLoveLanguages - Translators. Type "translators" in their search box and you will get a good list of human and software translation services.

Translations.net They offer software and electronic translation products as well as a professional (human) translator service.

Translator Web They have a very extensive data base of translators worldwide and a very easy user interface. There is no registration required.
